Kevin Fletcher, the Chief Financial Officer of the Downer group, has died.

The company, who operate the Meandu mine at Tarong, released a statement to the ASX this morning.

Mr Fletcher died early on Sunday morning.

He was 54, married and had four children.

The cause of his death has not been disclosed.

“Kevin’s contribution to Downer has been enormous since he joined the company in early 2010 and he will be greatly missed,” the statement said.

Before joining Downer, Mr Fletcher had spent 15 years in senior finance roles with Qantas and accounting groups KPMG and Coopers & Lybrand.

Downer’s Deputy Chief Financial Officer Michael Ferguson has been appointed Acting Chief Financial Officer.

Mr Ferguson has been Downer’s deputy chief financial officer since May 2014 and was previously finance director at waste management group Global Renewables.

Downer’s shares closed down 10 cents, or 3.4 per cent, to $3.43 in today’s trading.
