BIEDO CEO Carmel Summers

June 26, 2015

BIEDO CEO Carmel Summers said today she was optimistic the economic development organisation would access funding to continue its work in the North and South Burnett areas.

She told southburnett.com.au reports it could close were too negative and she was optimistic funding options would be found.

Carmel was appointed Acting CEO when long-serving manager Linda Silburn left late year and was confirmed in the position last month.

She said Member for Maranoa Bruce Scott had contacted her yesterday in regards to assistance, and BIEDO had also been having talks with other potential funding bodies.

Carmel also denied BIEDO would be receiving any rental assistance from the South Burnett Regional Council in regards to their new premises in Murgon.

“I have the contract in front of me, it’s full commercial rent,” she said.
