Police are asking landowners to check their properties, especially outbuildings, shed or caravans, for a man who has been missing from the Mt Mee area since Wednesday night.

Raymond Westrop, 56, is believed to have gone walking in the Florence Lane area at Mt Mee.

Police and family hold grave concerns for his welfare as he suffers from serious medical conditions and is physically frail. It is believed his condition would make it extremely difficult for him to negotiate the terrain in the area.

The police helicopter, about 120 SES volunteers with quad bikes and ATVs, mounted police, and police on foot have been searching the area which ranges from pastoral land to dense bushland with steep hills and valleys.

Searchers have located some items of property confirmed as belonging to Mr Westrop, along with some footprints indicating he had been in the area.

Land owners have also been asked to check creeks and dams for any signs he may have sought water or may have walked along the creek banks.

Police are also asking any motorists who have travelled through the area since Wednesday night to call Crime Stoppers on 1800-333-000 if they saw anyone walking along the side of a road.

Mr Westrop has white hair and green eyes. He is believed to be wearing navy blue shorts, a red and blue top, white running shoes with green ends on the laces, a polar fleece, and a camouflage rain jacket.

UPDATED April 15: Mr Westrop was located today at Beerburrum. He has been taken to hospital for a medical assessment.
