Tenders close at 2:00pm on Wednesday for the multi-million dollar construction of a new Kingaroy police station and watchhouse.
The $8.3 million project is believed to include the construction of a new building in the current car park area, the relocation of the Scenes of Crime building and the demolition of at least one building currently on the site.
Funding for a new police station in Kingaroy was announced in the 2014 State Budget but there had been fears the project could be axed because of the change in government.
However, tender documents were released by the new State Government on February 17, just three days after Annastacia Palaszczuk was sworn in as Premier.
The current police station in Kingaroy was built in the 1960s and can now no longer safely house the number of staff stationed in Kingaroy.

What an absolute waste of money.
Do you care to elaborate Brandi??? I see it as beneficial for the South Burnett. They have obviously outgrown the building and it’s 55 years old. I’m sure there are probably some safety issues in a building of that age too.
I have nothing but respect for our law enforcement and if State Government isn’t going to pay them more, the least they can do is upgrade the facilities. Do you think our new ambulance facility was “an absolute waste of money” also????
I don’t think it’s a waste of money either. It’s past it’s prime and too small for the workers it has to house. I might add that I think the courthouse could benefit from a much needed upgrade also. It’s outdated also.
