Managers of South Burnett small businesses, community organisations and not-for-profit groups have been invited to take part in an “Innovation Masterclass” in Kingaroy.

The workshop – spread across two half-days – has been sponsored by South Burnett Directions and will be delivered by Colin Graham, from Causeway Innovation.

Colin has worked with more than 100 small businesses from a wide variety of sectors in regional Australia as well as some of the world’s leading companies.

He has also worked with local businesses, including Bunya Red Farm and The Peanut Van, on business development.

The Innovation Masterclass will be held at the Kingaroy Town Hall and consists of two morning sessions, on February 23 and March 9.

It will explain a practical six-step approach to innovation, including how to generate, assess and implement new ideas.

“The Masterclass has a very practical focus and is particularly aimed at owners and managers of small and medium sized businesses from all sectors to help them identify how innovation can help grow their business,” South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said.

“The workshops are also relevant for managers of not-for-profits and community organisations seeking a more business-like approach as well as for budding or early stage entrepreneurs.”

The Innovation Masterclass is part of a Council strategy to support the development of strong and sustainable local businesses across the South Burnett region.

“Innovation is all about developing and implementing valuable new ideas,” Council’s Economic Development Manager Phil Harding said.

“The Business Excellence Awards highlighted that we already have many innovative businesses in the South Burnett and we would like to encourage and support even more.

“All the evidence shows that innovative businesses are more likely to grow and increase profitability so we are keen to support this new initiative and help local businesses access the latest thinking and tools.”

The cost is $145 plus GST and places are limited. Bookings can be made online
