While most of Australia is looking forward to the Melbourne Cup, the good folk of Blackbutt have staked their hopes on the Blackbutt Mug.
This “horse” race probably won’t stop a nation, but it should raise some cash for local charities.
The Blackbutt Mug will be run on Saturday, October 26, at the Blackbutt Memorial Hall.
The first race jumps at 7:15pm and racing will continue to 11:00pm.
The event is being organised by the Blackbutt Benarkin Community Council and will consist of seven races, all sponsored by local Blackbutt businesses.
There’ll also be a Fashion of the Fields competition, sponsored by Buttaflaiz Design.
A calcutta will be run on Race 7.
