Planning has begun for the South Burnett’s unique “Christmas Spirit” initiative, organised by Council CEO Mark Pitt and his wife Nicola.
The project was launched in 2019 with the introduction of “Santa Claus Lane” (co-operating neighbours decorating their houses), expanding in 2021 to include “Santa’s Workshop” (for businesses).
Last year, the “Christmas Cottage” category was added to allow solo residences to be eligible for judging.
“While there will be no monetary prize, we will be presenting a perpetual trophy to the winners of the Christmas Cottage and individual trophies to winners of the Santa’s Workshop in each area at the December Council ordinary meeting,” Mr Pitt said.
“The winners of Santa Claus Lane will be presented on site with the annual fingerboard.”
Nicola said the Christmas Spirit initiative was about celebrating the joy of Christmas in the community, encouraging neighbours to connect.
“Stay tuned for further announcements on the release date of the competition entry forms,” Mrs Pitt said.
