The Chief Executive Officer of “Local Buy” – the Local Government Association of Queensland’s procurement services company – travelled to Kingaroy last week to recognise two South Burnett council employees.
Mr Tim Rose praised Gary Wall, General Manager of Finance and Information Services, and Maurie McGuire, Program Director Flood Restoration, for their efforts during the South Burnett’s flood recovery.
The duo were presented with the Queensland Procurement Professional Award at the annual Procurement Gala Dinner in Brisbane earlier this year.
“Even though Gary and Maurie had received their award, we wanted to recognise their flood recovery efforts with the councillors, general managers and council staff,” Mr Rose said.
SBRC CEO Ken McLoughlin said the Flood Recovery team had worked smoothly together to help rebuild the road network in the region.
Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said councillors and staff had been unable to attend the Procurement Gala Dinner so it was a great opportunity “to share in their well-deserved recognition”.
“All of Council were very proud to see Maurie and Gary receive their award. They are both the epitome of professionalism and run a very efficient team,” Cr Kratzmann said.
