The SBRC awarded its final tenders for flood restoration works today

November 14, 2012

The South Burnett Regional Council awarded $8.32 million in roadworks contracts at two Special Meetings this morning.

Council accepted tenders for:

  • $1.39m from Robert Zelinski Excavator Hire for flood restoration roadworks
  • $1.37m from SRS Roads Pty Ltd for the supply of materials used in roadmaking and road repairs.

Crs Cheryl Dalton and Kathy Duff said they were very happy with the outcome of the latest – and final – round of tenders for flood restoration work because two of the three winning tenders have a “high local employment component”.

Brisbane-based Civil Mining and Construction employs about 50 local staff at its Nanango office.

And Murgon-based Robert Zelinski Excavator Hire employs local staff exclusively.

The contracts the Council awarded today will cover flood repairs to a further 140 roads in the SBRC’s area.

Work is expected to be completed by June 30, 2013.
