South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
South Burnett Speedway - Kingaroy
The third (and final) day of the three-day Kings Royal - the biggest annual event on the South Burnett Speedway Club's calendar - will be held at Kingaroy Showgrounds this afternoon and evening. Today's program will get underway with a Grand Parade at 3:30pm, followed by racing from 4:00pm until late tonight. As well as the lead-up races to the big final of the Kings Royal for Modifieds, there'll be races for National 4s and Production Sedans. Admission today is $30 for adults, $20 for students (with ID) and aged or disability pensioners or $85 for a family of two adults and up to two students (children 12 and under are free). Three day passes are also available at discounted rates and there'll be canteen facilities operating onsite and camping available, too. The full event program can be downloaded here (4.1Mb PDF). Note: With heavy rain forecast today, the Speedway Club will provide updates about current track conditions on their Facebook page.
Pig On A Spit Night - Maidenwell
The Maidenwell Hotel's popular monthly Pig On A Spit Night will be running from 6:00pm until late this evening. Popular South Burnett entertainer Natalie Fenton will be performing on the hotel's deck from 7:00pm, and guests can get stuck into more pork (or beef or chicken) than they can poke a fork at, all served up with with roast potatoes, pumpkin, corn, peas, carrots, applesauce and gravy ($25 for adults, $15 for U12s). Nanango Men's Shed
The Nanango Men's Shed at the corner of Mt Stanley Road and Heathermore Lane, Nanango will be open from 8:30am to around 12:30pm today for its regular Monday get-together. Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets are held on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Saturday each month and they feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls. Yarraman Men's Shed

Greg Griffith - Linville
Entertainer Greg Griffith will be performing at the Linville Hotel in George Street, Linville from 4:00pm until 8:00pm this afternoon and evening. The hotel's kitchen will also be open for lunch, dinner and snacks and there's free camping across the road or paid accommodation at the hotel if you want to stay overnight. More details? Saturday Cricket
Round 12 of the South Burnett Senior competition will be played today with all games starting at 12:30pm. Tingoora Vikings v Nanango Scorpions at Tingoora Sportsground; Wooroolin Warriors v Kingaroy Services Blue at Kingaroy State School; Wondai Wolves v Tingoora Huntsmen at Wondai Cricket Ground; and Murgon Diggers v Kingaroy Services Oranges at Murgon Showgrounds. At Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy, Wooroolin Warriors are scheduled to play Gympie Royals in the Gympie A Grade competition (TBC). Spectators are welcome at all games.
Free CPR and Sports Strapping Course - Nanango
The Nanango & Districts Netball Association will be running a free CPR and Sports Strapping Course at their courts at 55 Appin Street West, Nanango from 9:00am to 12:00 noon today. The course is open to NDNA players, coaches, umpires, parents and volunteers of all ages, and will provide participants with vital CPR accreditation, as well as specific netball/sport strapping skills they can apply to ankles, knees, wrists, shoulders, and elbows. The courses are normally valued at $120 but thanks to sponsorship from the South Burnett Regional Council, they're free. However, there are only 30 places available so if you want to take part you should ring 0448-256-512 to book.
Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed runs at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. The Nanango parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run along the Ros Gregor Trail at Tipperary Flat next to the D'Aguilar Highway south of Nanango at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event.
Railway Parkrun - Proston
The Proston parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join. Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Parkrun - Blackbutt
The Blackbutt parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail at Blackbutt from 7:00am this morning. The starting line is adjacent to the Roy Emerson Museum, off Bowman Road. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online (it's officially called the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail parkrun) and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event.
