South Burnett Australia Day Awards - Kumbia
- The South Burnett Regional Council will be presenting the region's 16th annual Australia Day Awards in a special ceremony at Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, Kumbia from 12:00 noon to around 3:00pm today. The awards provide the community with an opportunity to acknowledge outstanding groups and individuals committed to improving the lifestyle of our region, and the award categories have been chosen give all the region's communities equal opportunity to nominate individuals and/or groups who've made special contributions to the area. XCO Mountain Bike Racing - Gordonbrook
- The second day of the 5th and final round of the XCO Mountain Bike Racing competition will be held at the South Burnett Mountain Bike Club's tracks at Gordonbrook Dam today. Rounds of this cross-country mountain bike racing competition have previously been run at Walloon, Mt Crosby and Kooralbyn and a number of classes will be represented including U11 and U15 juniors; A, B and C grade adults; and ebikes. Chess Auditions - Kingaroy
- The South Burnett Musical Comedy Society will be holding their final audition sessions for singers (and aspiring singers) of all vocal ranges and abilities at the Church Of Christ hall at 245 Haly Street in Kingaroy from 1:00pm this afternoon. The auditions are seeking performers for the group's upcoming performances of Chess The Musical later this year and are open to anyone aged 14 and over. Blackbutt Country Markets
- The Blackbutt Lions Country Markets - run on the third Sunday of every month - will be held at Les Muller Park in Hart Street, Blackbutt from 7:00am until around mid-day today. The markets offer a wide range of locally produced arts, crafts and freshly harvested foodstuffs from more than 40 stallholders and everyone is welcome along!
Rob Fitz-Herbert - Linville
- Popular South Burnett entertainer Rob Fitz-Herbert will be performing at the Linville Hotel in George Street, Linville from 11:00am until 3:00pm today. The hotel's kitchen will also be operating from 11:00am for lunch and snacks and there's free camping across the road or paid accommodation at the hotel if you want to stay overnight. More details? Barambah ABA Shoot - Nanango
- The Barambah Bowhunters and Field Archers Association will be holding the second (and final) day of their weekend-long ABA Shoot at their archery range at Bow Hunters Road off the D'Aguilar Highway south of Nanango's CBD from 8:00am this morning (when things will kick off with a bow check and muster), followed by the shoot's commencement at 10:00am. Archers will be coming from all over SE Qld to take part, and spectators are very welcome to watch from the clubhouse. Food and free camping are also available onsite if you want to stay over.
Sunday Cricket
- The third round of the Goodchild Shield cricket competition will be played at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 9:00am today. South Burnett will be taking on Bundaberg. Spectators are very welcome.
Sunday Sesh With Amos Pellas - Nanango
- Popular South Burnett entertainer Amos Pellas will be performing at the Commercial Hotel in Drayton Street, Nanango from 2:00pm to 6:00pm this afternoon, serving up a collection of country and classic songs, pub rock and requests. Community Workshop - Kumbia
- The Red Earth Community Foundation will be holding a community workshop at Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, Kumbia from 3:30pm this afternoon after the Australia Day Awards presentations (see top of this page). All Kumbia residents are welcome to attend to discuss issues in the town and surrounding areas which they believe Red Earth may be able to address, either in part or in total.
