Queensland State Election
- The Queensland State elections are being held today and all enrolled voters in the South Burnett are required to cast a vote for their chosen candidate in either the Nanango or Callide electorates (depending on where they live). Polling booths will be open in their usual locations all around the region from 8:00am to 6:00pm and some mobile polling booths will also be in operation. In Nanango, voters can get to choose between the LNP's sitting member Deb Frecklington, the ALP's Liz Hollens-Riley, PUP candidate Jason Ford, Greens candidate Grant Newson, KAP's Ray Hopper or Independent Dean Love. And in Callide, the choice will be between the LNP's sitting member Jeff Seeney, the ALP's Graeme Martin, PUP's John Bjelke-Petersen, the Greens' Erich Schulz or Independents Michael Higginson, Duncan Scott or Steve Ensby. As always, from later this afternoon you'll be able to get live results from these two electorates - as well as the overall State totals - through the links that will appear on South Burnett Online's front page. Note: This year voters will be required to produce proof of identity when they cast their vote. You can get details of what constitutes acceptable proof plus the locations of all South Burnett polling booths on our website.
Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy
- The Kingaroy Bowls Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with more than $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Proston Rally
- The Proston Car Rally Club will be holding their first quarterly CAMS Khanacross Multiclub Rally for 2015 at their racing track this weekend. The Club's track is located 7.5km west of Proston on the Proston-Boondooma Road, and racing will commence around 12:00 noon this morning and conclude around 1:30pm tomorrow. Up to 50 cars attend Proston Rally Club meetings from all over Queensland and NSW and spectators are very welcome. There'll be a BBQ and soft drinks stand running throughout the event, as well as a hearty breakfast supplied by the Proston Lions club early on Sunday morning. Hot showers, toilets and free camping are available on site too. Admission to the Rally is 100% free for spectators, $50 for adult participants and $25 for juniors. More details? Misfitz - Kingaroy

Kumbia Country Markets
- The first Kumbia Country Markets for 2015 (run by the Kumbia Hall Committee) will be held in Bell Street and the precincts of the Kumbia Hall from 7:00am to 12:00 noon today. The markets feature homemade gifts, fashions, fresh fruit and vegies, plants and crafts and a sausage sizzle will be operating too! Kingaroy Red Ants 2015 Sign-On Day
- The Kingaroy Red Ants rugby league club will be holding their 2015 season sgn on at their club house in Youngman Street, Kingaroy between 10:00am and 2:00pm today. There'll be a sausage sizzle in operation and drinks wil be available, along with EFTPOS facilities. New players are very welcome!
Saturday Cricket
- The tenth round of the South Burnett's A Grade cricket competition will be played in Kingaroy today. RSL Services will play Murgon at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street; and Warriors will play Wondai at Taabinga State school. And in the twelfth round of this year's B Grade competition, RSL Services will play the Murgon Colts in Kingaroy; the Murgon Diggers will play Warriors at Murgon; and the mighty Kumbia Rattlers will play Barambah at Kumbia. Spectators and supporters are very welcome at all games.
Working Bee - Kingaroy
- A working bee will be held in the grounds of St Mary's Church at 15 Albert Street in Kingaroy from 8:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. The working bee's aim is to clean up the grounds after the summer rains and if you're taking part you should bring sunscreen, protective clothing, a hat, water and gardening equipment (eg: pruning shears, handsaws, car trailers etc). 2015 Junior Sports Sign-On Day - Kingaroy
- A combined 2015 Junior Sports Sign-On Day for soccer, netball, army cadets, motocross, AFL, karate and dance will be held at Kingaroy Shoppingworld from 8:30am to 1:00pm this morning.
RSPCA Car and Dog Wash - Kingaroy
- Yhe Kingaroy RSPCA will be holding a Car and Dog Wash Day from 10:00am to 3:00pm today (and also tomorrow) at their shelter in Geoff Raph Drive at Kingaroy Airport. You can get your car or dog washed for $10 or get both washed for $15. There'll also be a BBQ and baked goods sale on the grounds - and if you decide to adopt a new pet today you can get your car washed for free.
