South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Australia Day Awards - Blackbutt
The South Burnett Regional Council will be presenting the region's 17th annual Australia Day Awards in a special ceremony at Blackbutt Memorial Hall in Bowman Street, Blackbutt from 3:00pm to around 5:00pm today. The awards provide the community with an opportunity to acknowledge outstanding groups and individuals committed to improving the lifestyle of our region, and the award categories have been chosen give all the region's communities equal opportunity to nominate individuals and/or groups who've made special contributions to the area. Australia Day Breakfast - Ballogie
The Ballogie Community Association will be holding a free Australia Day community breakfast from 8:00am to 10:00am this morning on the group's newly cleared block on the Chinchilla-Wondai Road (opposite the Seiler Road turn-off).
13th Kings Royal Speedway - Kingaroy
The second day of the three-day Kings Royal - the biggest annual event on the South Burnett Speedway Club's calendar - will be held at Kingaroy Showgrounds this afternoon and evening. Racing will start today at 4:00pm and continue until late tonight. As well as more heats in the Modifieds, there'll be racing in Production Sedans and Street Stocks. Admission today is $30 for adults, $25 for students (with ID) and aged or disability pensioners; or $85 for a family of two adults and up to two students (children 12 and under are free). Three-day passes are also available at discounted rates. There'll be canteen facilities operating onsite and camping is available, too. Wondai Country Markets
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery's monthly Wondai Country Markets will be operating at Coronation Park in Wondai's CBD from 7:00am to 12:00 noon this morning. The markets feature stallholders selling fresh fruit and vegetables, arts and crafts, useful knick-knacks and clothing. There'll also be live entertainment; lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and special hand-made treasures from local artisans. The BBQs will also be firing up from around 6:45am to dish out hearty breakfasts for early bargain hunters. New stallholders are always very welcome (stall fees range from $10 with power and water available, if needed), and you can obtain more details by phoning the Wondai Regional Art Gallery on (07) 4168-5926.
Cheap As Chips Night - Kumbia
The Kumbia Hall Committee will be channelling Australia Day at their monthly Cheap As Chips night at Kumbia Hall in Bell Street from 6:00pm this evening. As well as great Australia Day-themed food, there'll be trivia, games, raffles and a licensed bar. Bushrangers & Colonial Shoot - Wondai
Today is Day 1 of the Wondai Rifle Club's two-day Australia Day weekend shoot at the South Burnett Shooting Complex on Rifle Range Road in Wondai. The theme is "Australian Outlaw Bushrangers & Colonial" so shooters and visitors are invited to dress up to take part in the costume competition. Kings Royal Show And Shine
A new event for this year is a free Show And Shine being run in conjunction with the annual Kings Royal Speedway event. Bring along you car, bike or truck to show off in the oval at the front of the Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street from 9:00am to 1:00pm. It's not a competition, just an opportunity to display your pride and joy. A coffee van will be on site.
Yarraman Holistic Markets

Pig On The Spit Night - Maidenwell
The Maidenwell Hotel's popular monthly Pig On A Spit Night will be running from 6:00pm until late this evening with live music by Dave Lynch and Salliana Seven Campbell from 7:00pm until late. Guests can get stuck into more pork than they can poke a fork at, all served up with with roast potatoes, pumpkin, corn, peas, carrots and gravy for $28 per head (chicken and beef options are available too) or $15 for U12s. Killy Hotel Triathlon - Kilkivan
The Kilkivan Hotel, in conjunction with the Kilkivan Bowls Club, is hosting a "triathlon" made up of darts, barefoot bowls and pool from 10:00am today. There are 16 teams competing and spectators are more than welcome!

The Ally Walker Dance Academy are having an Open Day from 10:00am to noon today at their premises at Shed 18, 19 Pound Street, Kingaroy. It's an opportunity for parents and students to meet the teachers and inspect the dance studio.
Tennis Sign-Up Day - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy & District Tennis Association and Mr B's Professional Tennis are holding sign-ons for Hot Shots Tennis from 8:00am to 10:00am today at the courts in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy. Hot Shots is for children aged from three to 12. There'll be free giveaways, a sausage sizzle and an opportunity to meet the coach.
Saturday Morning Tennis - Blackbutt

Come & Try Dragon Boating - BP Dam
The Barambah Dragons dragon boat club invites people to try out the ancient Chinese sport of dragon boat racing at Bjelke-Petersen Dam from 9:00am (for a 9:30am paddle-off) on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Paddles and gear will be supplied but participants should wear closed shoes that can tolerate getting wet and bring along sunscreen, water, a towel and warm clothes for afterwards. The event is free and will be followed by a gold coin donation sausage sizzle. Everyone is welcome! NB. Check the club's Facebook page as times could change due to the weather.
Saturday Library Day - Maidenwell
The volunteers from the Maidenwell QCWA will be supervising the regular weekly Saturday Library Day (featuring books loaned from Kingaroy Library) from 2:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon. A library day is held in the Maidenwell Hall in Pool Street every Wednesday and Saturday.
Aqua Aerobics - Wondai
Wondai Swimming Pool is hosting free Aqua Aerobics on Saturday mornings from 7:00am until February 8 as part of a South Burnett Regional Council program. Spots can be booked online
Saturday Cricket
Round 9 of the South Burnett Senior 40-Over competition will be played today, with all games starting at 12:30pm: Tingoora Vikings v Nanango Scorpions at Tingoora Sportsground; Wooroolin Warriors v Tingoora Huntsmen at Lyle Vidler Oval, Kingaroy; Kingaroy Services v Wondai Wolves at Taabinga State School; and Murgon Diggers v Tingoora Mercenaries at Murgon Showgrounds. NB. South Burnett junior cricket will resume on February 1. The Grand Final of the Goodchild Shield competition will be played on February 23 at Murgon Showgrounds.
Wooroolin Line Dancers
The Wooroolin Line Dancers will be holding line dancing classes for beginners and intermediate dancers at Wooroolin Hall on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin from 9:00am to 10:00am this morning (for beginners) and 10:00am to 12:30pm (intermediate). Course fees are $10 for intermediate (morning tea included) or $5 for beginners. BYO mug. Everyone is welcome.
Nanango Men's Shed
The Nanango Men's Shed at the corner of Mt Stanley Road and Heathermore Lane, Nanango, will be open from 8:30am to around noon today for its regular Saturday get-together. Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today.
