South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Christmas Dance - Inverlaw
The popular Inverlaw Dance will be held at Inverlaw Hall on the Burrandowan Road (roughly 20km from Kingaroy) from 8:00pm until late tonight, and this month it will be a special Christmas Dance with music supplied by Mystique. There'll also be the usual great supper and novelties - some with a Yuletide theme - along with a Lucky Door. QEII Jubilee Tree Planting - Murgon
The South Burnett Regional Council and the Australian Government's "Planting Trees for the Queen's Jubilee" program will be jointly hosting a special tree dedication ceremony at QEII Park in Lamb Street, Murgon (opposite Mitre 10) at 12:00 noon today in honour of Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee. The ceremony will see representatives from 16 local community groups each assigned a tree, and the event will be compered by Member for Wide Bay Llew O'Brien. The general public is also very welcome attend.
Tom Curtain - Maidenwell
Multiple Golden Guitar winner and horseman extraordinaire Tom Curtain will be bringing his Nothin's Gonna Stop Us Tour to the Maidenwell Sportsgrounds from 6:00pm to around 8:30pm tonight (gates open at 5:00pm). The show will feature Tom, the Katherine Outback Experience, Chris Matthews and special guests, featuring and mix of old favourites and new numbers from his Tom's recently released albums along with displays of horsemanship and working dog demonstrations that will provide fun for the whole family. A cash bar and food will also be available onsite, but guests can BYO picnic baskets if they wish (as well as chairs or rugs for seating). Tickets are $50 for adults or $35 for students aged 6-17 (under-6s are free) if purchased at the gate, or $40/$25 if purchased online.
Kumbia Community Markets
The monthly Kumbia Community Markets will be running at Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, Kumbia from 7:00am to around noon this morning (set-up is from 6:00am). The markets feature bric-a-brac, food and live entertainment, and new stallholders are always welcome (stall fees are just $11 per site). More details? Phone Brett on 0450-042-034.
Christmas Earrings Workshop - Nanango
Abundant Creativity Studio in Bright Street, Nanango will be running a workshop from 9:00am this morning to teach participants how to make several sets of bright, coulourful Christmas earrings using polymer clay. Garden Party & Plaque Unveiling - Murgon
The Murgon RSL Sub-Branch will be holding a Garden Party and Plaque Unveiling ceremony at 1:00pm this afternoon at the old railway line in Gore Street to officially open the town's new Veterans Memorial Park and acknowledge Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee. Everyone is welcome but to help plan the catering, an RSVP would be greatly appreciated. You can make one by phoning (07) 4313-3018.
Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at their workshop buildings at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for their regular Saturday morning get-together today, kicking off with a cuppa at 8:00am and continuing on until noon. Movie In The Park - BP Dam
A free Movie In The Park evening will be held at Bjelke-Petersen Dam from 6:00pm tonight as a fundraiser for a young Murgon girl. There'll be burgers, slushies and popcorn available for purchase and all guests need to do is bring their own picnic rug or chair to relax and enjoy the screening (plus cash to purchase refreshments, if required). Everyone is welcome!
Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed runs at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event. More details? Send an email.

The Nanango parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run along the Ros Gregor Trail at Tipperary Flat next to the D'Aguilar Highway south of Nanango at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event.
Kilkivan Community Christmas Carnival
The annual Kilkivan Community Christmas Carnival will be held at the Kilkivan Showgrounds in Mudlo Road, Kilkivan from 6:00pm until late tonight This fun-filled event will feature all the usual attractions including four food trucks, a licensed bar, live music from DJ Beats By Beau, auctions, meat raffles, a balloon. Everyone is welcome and there's no admission.
