AgForce Queensland has paid tribute to the late Ian and Hannah Campbell who died in a light aircraft crash on September 8.
Ian, 56, and his daughter Hannah, 23, were killed when their Beechcraft Bonanza crashed shortly after take-off from Archerfield Airport.
Mr Campbell and his wife Jane founded Barambah Organics almost 30 years ago, a dairy company based initially around the couple’s Spring Creek farm at Manyung, near Murgon.
“Today, as family and friends gather to farewell Ian and Hannah Campbell, AgForce’s thoughts are with Jane and the Campbell family,” the AgForce statement said.
“To lose a husband and daughter together is a grief beyond words. We hope Jane and her family feel surrounded by the care of the many people and communities whose lives Ian and Hannah touched.
“Ian’s connection to Queensland agriculture ran deep.
“A fourth-generation farmer, his family’s connection to farming in the South Burnett spanned more than a century. Together, Ian and Jane built successful agricultural enterprises founded on innovation, sustainability and a deep respect for the land.
“Ian was known for his willingness to challenge convention, embrace new ideas and continually look for better ways to farm. He was equally generous with his time, knowledge and friendship, building strong relationships across agriculture and the regional communities in which the Campbell family lived and worked.”
AgForce said the Campbell family had been part of the fabric of regional Queensland for generations.
“Ian’s legacy will be felt not simply through what he achieved, but through the people he influenced, the relationships he built and the communities to which he contributed,” the statement continued.
“On behalf of AgForce, our members and the Southern Inland Queensland Regional Council, we extend our deepest sympathies to Jane and the Campbell family.”
