Two Kingaroy stores allegedly selling illegal tobacco products have been ordered shut again by Queensland Health.
Short-term closures were ordered earlier this month for Kingaroy Mart (formerly Master Tobacconist), at 193-199 Haly Street; and Town Tobacco and Gifts, at 3/25 Alford Street.
Both shops have been subject to previous closure orders.
A spokesperson said Queensland Health “would not tolerate rogue retailers putting the health of our community at risk by selling illicit vapes and tobacco, no matter where they operate in Queensland”.
“Earlier this month, inspections in the South Burnett region led to 90-day short-term closure orders being issued to two Kingaroy stores,” the spokesperson said.
“Our nation-leading laws are designed to stop dodgy operators from reopening, enabling landlords to terminate leases when a closure order is issued for illegal tobacco or vape products – regardless of existing lease terms.
“Since November, our enforcement efforts have shut down more than 230 stores across Queensland, and we continue to target illicit operators across the State, from metropolitan areas to regional cities and rural towns.”
Since July 2025, Queensland Health has seized more than 946,100 illicit cigarettes, 205kg of loose illicit tobacco, 9300 illicit vapes and 25,600 illicit nicotine pouches across the Darling Downs region, which includes South Burnett.
