The South Burnett Cricket Association has organised a women’s/girls’ Development Day at Murgon Showgrounds this Sunday (January 25).
There are two events: Women’s Development (ages 13 and up) from 10:00am to 1:00pm, no gear required; and an All Girls Pop Up Blast (ages 5-12) from 10:00am to 11:00am.

This isn’t just an opportunity for young girls starting out in cricket, it’s also for mums and friends to come along and give the game a go!
It promises to be a social day focusing on fun and the development of basic skills.

The South Burnett Cricket Association’s mixed Summer T20 competition wrapped up last Saturday with a final between Wooroolin Warriors and Kingaroy Services.
This followed three weeks of round-robin games.:
- Round 1 – Kingaroy Services (4/171) def. Wondai Wolves (6/169); and Wooroolin Warriors (3/206) def. Nanango Scorpions 5/197 at Wondai Cricket Ground
- Round 2 – Kingaroy Services (3/158) def. Wooroolin Warriors (6/157); and Nanango Scorpions (7/146) def. Wondai Wolves 3/145 at Alan Downie Sports Fields, Nanango
- Round 3 – Kingaroy Services (6/140) def. Nanango Scorpions (8/109); and Wooroolin Warriors (7/136) def. Wondai Wolves 5/135 at Lyle Vidler Oval, Kingaroy

Other Results
Gympie A Grade Competition – January 17
- Wooroolin Warriors (9/266) def. Gympie Royals (all out 127) at Jack Ison Oval, Gympie
Warriors won the toss and elected to bat.
The visitors lost nine wickets by the end of their 40 overs but captain Keiran Askin led the way, top-scoring with 81 not out.
Oscar Dioth (33) and Matthew Dugdell (31) also added valuable runs.
Dugdell also did well with the ball, taking 3/8 off six overs (including two maidens) in the Royals’ innings.
Fletcher Brown (1/13 off three overs) took the vital wicket of opener Marcus Riddell for a duck.
- Harlequins (5/110) def. Murgon Crusaders (all out 108) at Keith Manthey Oval, Gympie
Harlequins won the toss and sent Crusaders in.
The Murgon side were all out in the 33rd over, with the last wicket falling to the rare call of “obstructing the field”.
Tom Patton (42) was the top scorer.
In reply, Harlequins overtook the target in the 30th over.
Jack Webber (3/15 off 5.1 overs) finished with the best bowling figures for Murgon.
Gympie A Grade Competition – January 10
- Wooroolin Warriors (all out for 169) def. Murgon Crusaders (all out 168) in a nailbiter at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy.
Warriors won the toss and elected to bat, but were all out with five balls remaining in the last over.
Openers Lachlan Cullen (37) and Lawson Black (33) were the top scorers.
Riley Sippel (5/34 off eight overs, including two maidens) was on target for Crusaders.
In reply, Crusaders just fell short, all out in the 28th over.
Daniel Thompson (40) and Lyndon Hopkins (52) were the top scorers.
Luke Smith (4/30 off six), Lachlan Cullen (2/7 off 3.4) and Fletcher Brown (2/34 off five) were the best of the Warriors’ bowlers.
Dalby Competition – January 10
- Tingoora Vikings (all out 220) def. Boundary Warriors (all out 129) at Tingoora Sportsground.
Tavis Hartwig (83) and David Hartwig (31) were the top scorers for Vikings.
Bowlers Hayden McCrea (4/10 off five overs) and Ryan Jacobs (2/4 off 4.5) were on fire for Tingoora, getting the visitors all out in the 33rd over.
Dalby Competition – January 17

The regular one-day South Burnett Senior Cricket season resumes on Saturday after the Christmas holidays break. Games start at 12:30pm:
- Wooroolin Warriors v Nanango Scorpions at Lyle Vidler Oval, Kingaroy
- Murgon Diggers v Saints at Murgon Showgrounds
- Kingaroy Services v Wondai Wolves at Taabinga State School
South Burnett Junior Cricket will resume on January 31.
In the Gympie A Grade One-Day competition:
- Murgon Crusaders v Colts at Kozminsky Oval, Gympie
- Wooroolin Warriors v Valleys at Keith Manthey Oval, Gympie
Tingoora Vikings Cricket Club will be holding a fun day of cricket at Tingoora Sportsground from 10:00am on Saturday to raise funds to support mental health. There’ll be prizes and food and drinks will be available.
