Storm damage caused major damage to the electricity network in the Kinbombi and Tansey areas on Thursday night, leaving some residents without power until late on Friday afternoon.
An Ergon Energy spokesperson said crews attempted to restore power on Thursday night without success.
They then began more fault-finding in the area on Friday morning.
They discovered that lightning had brought down five large sections of powerline in very tough terrain, including several spans that hung from hilltop to hilltop.
“Getting access into the hills was particularly tricky, and the repair crews had to do a lot of this by Polaris,” the spokesperson said.
“They also replaced several crossarms that were smashed by lightning.”
