Nanango’s historic Ringsfield House is scheduled to re-open to the public next month.
Cr Jane Erkens told October’s general meeting of the South Burnett Regional Council that more than 10 volunteers were now involved in the project.
For many years Ringsfield House operated as an occasional function centre with a café, but this closed when it became unprofitable and the not-for-profit association managing the building had to pull out.
Other attempts to engage private operators over the years failed.
Council created a Ringsfield House Advisory Committee in 2022 as the first steps to reopening Ringsfield as a community hub.
Events have continued to be held in other parts of the complex and in the grounds, but except for an art exhibition last year, there has been very few activities in the main building.
Cr Erkens said the plan now was for an art gallery to open on the side verandah, and devonshire teas to be available on the front verandah.
The house would also be open for inspections.
She said the volunteers were very keen and with the assistance of Council staff, the house would be open again on the first weekend in November.
