May 19, 2023

It was a big weekend for the Wondai Wolves on Saturday, with special NRL visitors dropping in (see separate story) and a big round of home games.

Unfortunately, there was a forfeit in the Women’s A Grade game, but the Under 16s Wolves women notched up a huge victory over Bundaberg.

In the A Grade men’s game, the Wolves proved too strong for Cherbourg.

Wondai were ahead 22-6 at half-time, with the Hornets managing to put their first points on the board just before the siren sounded.

The visitors scored again immediately after the break but the rest of the half belonged to Wondai.

The final score was Wondai 38, Cherbourg 18.

Wondai try scorers were Jack McDowell (2), Keith Gadd Jnr (2), Luke Hedges, Asofono Lemalu and Malik Saltner. Torren Anderton kicked five goals.

Cherbourg’s tries were scored by Elwyn Fewquandie, Anthony Gray and Lance Gadd. Dennis Sandow kicked three conversions.
