Footy stars Selwyn Cobbo, Ezra Mam and Johnathan Thurston made a surprise trip to the South Burnett last weekend to help promote this week’s NRL Indigenous Round.

The trio dropped into Wondai Sportsground before heading off to Cherbourg to meet more young fans, sign autographs and officially launch the 2023 Broncos Indigenous jersey.

The jersey was designed by Brisbane artist Casey Coolwell-Fisher – a Quandamooka / Nunukul woman from Minjerribah – with input from Broncos’ players, including Selwyn.

Selwyn also took the opportunity to catch up with his family members during his homecoming visit to Cherbourg.

Footnote: The jersey looked deadly but it didn’t bring good luck to Brisbane, who went down 15-4 against the Penrith Panthers on Thursday night. Selwyn scored the Broncos’ solitary try.
