Yarding numbers were reduced to 450 at the latest fortnightly cattle sale in Murgon on Tuesday (March 28).
Heavy cows and better quality weaners remained fairly firm, but all other descriptions sold to softer values.
Cattle for the sale were drawn from Gayndah, Mundubbera, Kingaroy, Nanango, Kilkivan and the Murgon district.
Sale results:
- Heavy Bulls sold to $2.64/kg and $1800
- Cows over 500kg sold to $2.78/kg and $1720, averaging $2.77/kg
- Cows 400-500kg topped at $2.55/kg for $1180
- Cows under 400kg sold to $1.63/kg
- Export heifers sold to $3.07/kg and $1870
- Charbray steers from Manyung sold for $1506 at $3.68/kg
- 418kg Charbray steers from Cloyna sold for $1530 and $3.66/kg
- 427kg Santa cross steers from Tansey sold for $3.64/kg, returning $1555
- 350kg Santa cross steers sold to $1342 at $3.82/kg
- 382kg Angus cross steers sold for $1450 at $3.80/kg
- Charbray weaner steers from Manyung sold for $1230 at $4.62/kg
- Charolais cross weaner steers from Proston sold for $4.50/kg and $905
- Santa cross weaner steers from Kilkivan sold for $1190 at $4.40/kg
- Santa cross weaner steers from Murgon sold for $4.01/kg, returning $1110
- Local 420kg Droughtmaster cross heifers sold for $1310 at $3.12/kg
- 355kg Droughtmaster cross heifers sold for $1170 and $3.30/kg
- 339kg Santa heifers from Wondai sold for $1010 at $2.98/kg
- 413kg Droughtmaster heifers from Wondai sold for $1215 and $2.94/kg
- Santa cross weaner heifers from Murgon sold for $1030 at $3.30/kg
- Angus cross heifers from Proston sold for $3.60/kg and $800
- Droughtmaster weaner heifers from Mundubbera sold for $885 and $3.54/kg
