Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington has congratulated CC and Greg Petersen, from Petersen’s Farm near Woolooga, on their recent grant success for their annual Big Rosella Festival.

Mrs Frecklington said it was fantastic to see this unique local event being acknowledged for support.

“The Big Rosella Festival has been running since 2016 and in this time the Petersens have grown it to become an a amazing event promoting all things ‘rosella’ including cooking demonstrations by guest chefs, farm tours, farmer talks, local food, stalls, entertainment and kids’ activities,” Mrs Frecklington said.

“The Petersens’ farm is home to a range of fruit and vegetables as well as more than 5000 rosella plants.”

The iconic plant is highly valued for its jam, teas and much more.

“CC and Greg’s passion for educating the public about rosellas, as well as their dedication to agritourism and supporting their local Woolooga community is the reason for the festival’s ongoing success, despite their farm being seriously affected by major flooding last year,” Mrs Frecklington said.

“The agritourism grant they have received will help them develop the Big Rosella Festival and attract even more visitors to the region, which is a win for the Woolooga area and broader Gympie region.

“The eighth Big Rosella Festival will be held on May 6-7 and I’m sure CC and Greg will be creating something bigger and better than ever.”

Petersen’s Farm was one of 12 Queensland businesses to receive a State Government Agritourism Business Grant, delivered in partnership with the Queensland Farmers’ Federation.
