Members of the South Burnett’s new Youth Council undertook one of their first major activities at the weekend – leadership training.

The teenagers were invited to attend a two-day Youth Leadership Conference facilitated by the Youth Leadership Academy Australia.

The Youth Council members gathered in the Griffith University training rooms at Kingaroy Hospital to undergo the training.

Topics covered included the power of teamwork, setting and achieving goals, and adapting to change.

The sessions ran all day on Saturday and Sunday, and were led by two trainers: Wil Massara and Bonnie Rowe.

Wil said the goal was to equip the young people with skills to be able to lead themselves and the South Burnett community.

“They will build confidence to represent the young people of the region,” he said.
