Police have confirmed that a 31-year-old Nanango man and a 20-year-old Tara man were killed in Sunday’s horrific crash on Barkers Creek Flat.

The men’s blue Holden Commodore crashed into a pole alongside the D’Aguilar Highway, bringing down power lines.

A third person, a 28-year-old Kingaroy man who was a passenger in the vehicle, remains in the Princess Alexandra Hospital with serious injuries.

Emergency services were called about 3:15pm.

Forensic Crash Unit officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the driving behaviour prior to the crash, or who has relevant dashcam footage of the blue Holden Commodore, to contact police.

Anyone with information should call Police Link on 131-444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800-333-000.

Investigations are continuing to determine the cause of the crash.

Police have also denied reports in metropolitan media that two people were arrested after the crash.

  1. How many more tragic deaths do there have to be along that stretch of road before the government fixes it? While we don’t know the details of this current accident, we do know that the road is commonly used like a speedway by so many people. Almost every time I use that road, driving at the speed limit, someone zooms past doing about 140 kph.

  2. I rang triple zero, exactly 15 minutes before that crash to report an older dark blue sedan was speeding, and being driven erratically and missing rear number plates on that exact road heading towards Kingaroy. The operator SCOLDED ME because HE didn’t think it was an emergency! PoliceLink were contacted after the accident was on the news that night. I still wonder if the outcome would be different for the victims if the operator had treated it as an emergency.
