Two people were killed – and one person seriously injured – in a crash on a notorious stretch of the D’Aguilar Highway between Nanango and Kingaroy on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the single-vehicle crash on Barkers Creek Flat about 3:15pm.

The vehicle had left the highway and hit a power pole.

The D’Aguilar Highway was closed while emergency services were at the scene.

At 6:30pm, motorists were being advised to expect delays and proceed with caution.

The injured person was flown in a stable condition with suspected abdominal injuries to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.

Two people from a separate vehicle are currently assisting police with inquiries.

Forensic Crash Unit officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the driving behaviour of the vehicle prior to the crash, or who has dashcam footage of the area at the time, to come forward.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the crash.
