Bunya Mountains Rural Fire Brigade members sprang into action after a large tree fell across Rainforest Road, the access road to the Bunya Mountains Rainforest Estate, on Sunday night.

The tree fell just after 10:00pm, bringing down power lines and triggering protective equipment on Ergon Energy’s electricity network, blacking out about 61 local residents.

Ergon Energy customers in Rainforest Drive, Rainforest Road, Bidwilli Drive, Bidwilli Crescent, Bowerbird Lane, Lillypilly Avenue and Lillypilly Place were affected.

The rural firies cleared access on the roadway while Ergon crews worked to restore power, estimated to be back by 5:00pm, Monday.
