The South Burnett “Ride For Relay” team has topped the Queensland Cancer Council’s 2020 Relay For Life fundraising list.

The five-day, 400km trek by 13 cyclists around the South Burnett in September raised an amazing $21,830, well ahead of second placegetter, the Bundaberg-based “Young At Heart” team which has raised $12,823.

This is the fourth year that local teacher Jason Wyeth has organised “Ride For Relay” as part of the South Burnett’s Relay For Life fundraising effort for the Queensland Cancer Council.

When southburnett.com.au spoke to Jason in September, he hoped the ride would raise at least $18,000 so it has surpassed even his expectations.

The “Ride For Relay” funds make up the bulk of the South Burnett Relay For Life’s total of $35,391 this year, but there are still funds rolling in.

An upcoming “Auction With The Captains” (see separate report) will add to this tally.

UPDATE: The sale of donated cattle is expected to bump the “Ride For Relay” amount even higher!
