Toowoomba Regional Council has approved the application for a huge new Regional Trade Distribution Centre near Wellcamp Airport.

Cr Megan O’Hara Sullivan said Council had worked closely with Wagners and the State Government to get the application for the 3346.1 sq m centre across the line.

“The centre  is to facilitate freight handling directly associated with the adjacent airport use for agricultural products, including meat and dairy products, fruit and vegetables, and packaged nuts,” Cr O’Hara Sullivan said.

Under the application, products will be delivered via truck, then repackaged within the building to be distributed by plane on the same day.

Products are not proposed to be stored on-site longer-term.

Freight handling is proposed between 6:00am and 7:00pm, seven days a week, and will employ up to 25 staff on-site across three shifts.
