The Queensland Competition Authority will be holding “virtual consultations” with stakeholders in regards to its latest report on electricity prices in regional Queensland.

It has invited interested parties to register online to express interest in taking part in the virtual workshops, which will be held from May 4.

The workshops will discuss the QCA’s recent draft determination of regulated retail electricity prices which would apply in regional Queensland for 2020-21.

The draft determination recommends that power bills for Ergon’s regional Queensland customers drop by $75 a year for a typical household and $116 a year for a small business from July 1.

However, the Queensland Farmers’ Federation says farming businesses on transitional and obsolete tariffs have been ignored.

Registrations to take part in the virtual workshops must be made before April 27.
