A meeting will be held in Kingaroy next week as part of the development of a Regional Biosecurity Strategy for the Wide Bay Burnett Regional Organisation of Councils (WBBROC).

The two-year program aims to develop a co-ordinated approach to tackling invasive weeds and pest feral animals by the six councils that make up WBBROC, ie. South Burnett, Cherbourg, North Burnett, Gympie, Fraser Coast and Bundaberg.

Input is being sought from regional stakeholders, either via attending a regional working group meeting or completing an online survey.

The regional working groups will be used to identify and understand local environmental, economic, social and cultural values/assets that communities want to protect from invasive species.

The Kingaroy meeting will be held from 10:00am to 1:00pm on March 21 at the Kingaroy Town Common Hall in Oliver Bond Street.

Other meetings will be held in Gayndah, Bundaberg, Gympie, Maryborough and Woocoo.

People interested in attending the regional working group should RSVP for catering purposes to Regional Biosecurity Coordinator Josh Dyke, either by email or by phoning 0488-953-844.

An online survey, which will be open until March 31, is also available. All completed surveys will be incorporated into the review process.
