Ergon Energy is reminding farmers that support is available for drought-affected customers in the form of waived charges and deferred payments.

Waived charges include supply charges and minimum payments.

Deferred payments may be available for those experiencing financial difficulty as a result of drought.

Executive General Manager Ergon Energy Retail Cheryl Hopkins said it was important for customers to call if they were experiencing hardship.

“Ergon Energy Retail customers can apply if they are located in a drought-declared area or on a property that has been individually drought-declared and have severely restricted or no access to water for pumping,” Ms Hopkins said.

“We want to work with our customers to ensure they can access the support they need to help them through these difficult times.”

Details about the support options available for farmers are available online

There are also a number of other support programs for residential customers who are having difficulty making payments on their electricity bill. More information about these is also available online
