Only two people turned up on Thursday evening in Kingaroy to give their input into the direction the South Burnett Regional Council should take over the next five years.
The Kingaroy meeting, in the Town Hall Reception Room, was one of five held across the South Burnett region to gain public input into Council’s new Corporate Plan.
Mayor Keith Campbell said he was disappointed with the roll-up in Kingaroy, but he said “to some extent that’s typical”.
“Yes, I’m disappointed given the amount of advertising that we have produced,” he said.
“It was an opportunity for people to see the way a Council operates.”
He said the turnout at other meetings was better: Murgon (4), Wondai (10), Nanango (12) and Blackbutt (12-15).
Mayor Campbell said Council had still managed to gather enough feedback from the public.
An online survey had attracted 152 responses.
“That is a sufficient sample size of views for a corporate plan,” Mayor Campbell said.
There may have been only two residents at the Kingaroy meeting, but their questions were fielded by the Mayor and three councillors, Council General Manager Corporate Services Peter O’May and Senior Governance Officer Kerrie Le Du.
