Ergon Energy and Energex have begun a recruitment drive to attract electrical engineering graduates to join the network early in 2018.

Energy Minister Mark Bailey said it was an amazing opportunity to be part of the rapidly changing industry.

“The graduate program provides successful candidates with between three and four years of experience rotating throughout the organisation every six months to expose them to a range of specialised areas,” Mr Bailey said.

“There are opportunities available at locations across Queensland.

“This is an incredible opportunity being offered by our State-owned energy distributor and further cements the need to keep our energy assets in public hands.”

Energy Queensland General Manager External Relations Michael Dart said as technology evolved, the organisation needed to as well.

“Customer expectations are shifting and transitioning to new technologies is complex, which is why Ergon Energy and Energex are looking for graduates who can help find the answers to these challenges,” Mr Dart said

“The program is designed so that graduates take charge of their own development and career direction.

“Throughout the program they’ll be challenged in their thinking and mentored by experienced engineers to ensure they are supported and are ready to achieve a CPEng qualification.”

Applicants must be an Australian resident and should have a strong academic record and have completed an Electrical Engineering degree from December 2015, or be due to complete their degree in 2017 at an Australian university.

Applications close at 11:00pm on Sunday, July 2, 2017.
