The 2017 Yarraman Horse Ride – described as “the best yet” by some participants – attracted 118 riders to the South Burnett on Saturday.
This was about 10 per cent up from 2016 … which should have made the organisers, the Yarraman Show Society, happy.
Participants aged from 12 to “veteran” travelled from the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Brisbane Valley, Gold Coast and Warwick to take part.
Most were members of Trail Riding Australia clubs or Australian Trail Riders Association clubs.
A group of local riders came from the Tingoora Agility Club.
Many of the riders arrived in Yarraman on Friday morning and left on Sunday.
One estimate suggested the visitors could have added $15,000 to $20,000 economic benefit to the town during their stay.
Many floats were also seen stopping in Blackbutt on the way home, at the Bunyanut Cafe and Blackbutt Bakery.
