The South Burnett Saints tried hard but were no match for 2015 Division 1 premiers Coolaroo in their top-of-the-table clash at Warwick on Saturday.
It was always going to be a big ask against the Roos but South Burnett did well, racking up the biggest score recorded against Coolaroo so far this year.
And considering the Roos’ last two “victims” were downed by 179 and 231 points respectively, the Saints’ 22.12 (144) to 7.10 (52) loss is very respectable.
Coolaroo took off to a strong start, kicking six goals.
At half-time, they were ahead 9.7 (61) to 2.6 (18).
The Roos began the last quarter with a six goal margin after a strong third-quarter by South Burnett, but romped away to a big win.
Saints’ goals were kicked by Carl Stevenson (3), Adam Bowater (2), Jordan Presnell and Brad Edwards.
The South Burnett Saints’ Women’s side also had a long trip home from Warwick.
Final score was Saints 4.1 (25), Coolaroo / Warwick 14. 9 (93).
Saints’ goals were kicked by Greer Shepherd, Maria Torrigue, Kayla Smith and Tahlia Blanch.
