The South Burnett Private Hospital closed it doors for the last time as a Pulse Health-run facility on Tuesday afternoon, but South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann still hopes it won’t be forever.
He said there had been a breakthrough in the last few days over licensing for any potential new operator, with Pulse Health agreeing it would transfer over its existing licence.
This means a new operator would not have to seek licensing for the facility from scratch.
Mayor Kratzmann said there would be someone behind the Reception Desk in the hospital building tomorrow, and they would stay there until something definite was known.
He said he had been making telephone calls, and receiving calls, almost hourly in regards to the hospital but he would not know anything definitely about a new operator for at least a few days.

In the meantime, local staff members have all lost their jobs. Nurse Racheal Collier prepared this moving tribute to her dedicated colleagues at the hospital:

Loved the video,so sad our little hospital had to close. Thank you doctors, nurses and all the other staff, you will all be missed. Bye.
Let’s hope (and pray) that a new operator is found who can take over the licensing for the private hospital facility and re-employ some or all of the loyal staff. A+ for effort!
