John Carey (Stanwell) and Mayor Wayne Kratzmann at this evening’s KCCI Meet’n’Greet

The South Burnett Regional Council may not have to take over management of the South Burnett Private Hospital after all.

After telling Council earlier this year that it would not be renewing its lease when it expires on August 15, it seems that Pulse Health – the current operators of the hospital – may still be interested in running it into the future.

South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann told Kingaroy business operators this evening that the good news was that the hospital, no matter what happens, will remain open “forever and a day”.

Speaking at a meet’n’greet organised by the Kingaroy Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Mayor Kratzmann said Pulse Health have indicated they are “a bit keen” to keep on running the hospital.

However, he said, if they did it would be “on our terms”.

Council would be happy with this arrangement as “health is not our core business”.
