The Wondai Wolves won their opening match in the South Burnett competition, but with the way the draw has worked out after withdrawals, they would not have played another game until April 26 which is why they will play a Barbarians match on Saturday

April 1, 2014

The focus of the South Burnett Rugby League competition will switch to the Central Burnett this weekend with three senior games scheduled in Mundubbera.

  • 3:00pm – Gayndah Gladiators v Murgon Mustangs
  • 4:45pm – Theodore Roosters v Nanango Stags
  • 6:30pm – Mundubbera Tigers v Kingaroy Red Ants

Points from these games will count on the South Burnett premiership ladder.

At home, Cherbourg will play the Monto Roos at Wondai.  This game is scheduled to kick off at 2:30pm.

Wondai were supposed to be playing a home game against the Eidsvold Eagles on Saturday but with the late withdrawal of Eidsvold from the competition they will now have a competition bye, the second in a row for the Wolves.

Wondai Proston JRL president Wally Knight told southburnett.com.au the Wolves senior team would now play a scratch match against a Barbarians team, made up of Wondai and Cherbourg players, at 4:00pm.

The Barbarians will be captained by Wolves’ coach Shane Cliff, which should make for an interesting game with the coach taking on his own players.

The scratch game has been organised to allow selectors to see the Wondai players in action before choosing the rep sides for 47th Battalion duties.
