South Burnett radio station 4SB (1071) has been tipped to become a part of an “Australian Mining Radio Network” being re-badged as part of an advertising strategy by new owners, the Macquarie Radio Network.

Other stations in the package would include the other members of the former Smart radio group purchased by Macquarie last year.

In today’s The Australian newspaper, Macquarie Radio Network sales director Mark Noakes is quoted as saying the network wants to reach “Australia’s most cashed-up ears”.

On March 23, The Australian reported that coal mining magnate Gina Rinehart had taken a “personal interest” in the purchase of the Smart Radio Group.
