Highlights Of 20 Years Of Music Making - Blackbutt
The Bloomin' Beautiful Blackbutt Festival will be taking a cultural turn tonight when the Blackbutt Singers present their latest concert "Highlights Of 20 Years Of Music Making" at the Blackbutt Memorial Hall in Coulson Street, Blackbutt at 7:30pm. The Blackbutt Singers are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year and their last concert at Kumbia in June 2012 was very well received. There'll be a small admission fee to tonight's concert, but all proceeds will go to aid Blackbutt's proposed Aged Care Facility. Everyone is welcome!
Gympie/South Burnett QCWA Divisional Handcraft Display - Murgon
The Gympie/South Burnett QCWA Divisional Handcraft Display will be on show from 9:00am to 3:00pm today at the Murgon QCWA Rooms at 81 Macalister Street in Murgon. This once-a-year show will feature over 60 classes of handcraft from the 15 QCWA branches in the Gympie/South Burnett division, and it will be of great interest not only to QCWA members but also to anyone with an interest in handcrafts. Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their eighth monthly exhibition for 2012 with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm this evening. Tonight's exhibition will feature the works of well-known South Burnett artist Robyn Dower. As usual, the opening will also feature great finger foods and punch, along with wine tastings from a South Burnett winery. Admission is $5 and everyone is very welcome to attend! More details? Maidenwell QCWA Chilean Day
The Maidenwell QCWA will be holding a special "Chile Day" at the Maidenwell Hall in Maidenwell from 11:30am this morning until around 3:00pm this afternoon. Students from the Tanduringie State School will be displaying their Chilean competition work and performing, amongst many other things. There'll also be raffles and a great afternoon tea. Admission is $5 and everyone is welcome.
St Joseph's School Fete - Murgon
St Joseph's School in Angel Avenue, Murgon will be holding their annual School Fete from 5:30pm onwards this evening as a fundraiser for the school and parish. In addition to plenty of food and market stalls, there'll be performances by students from all grades from Prep through to Year 7, as well as fun entertainment for the whole family including laser skirmish, putt putt golf, Mr Squirt, a Darren Lockyear football throw and a merry-go-round. South Burnett band Muddy Flats will also be on hand to provide live entertainment. Last year around 350 people attended the Fete and this year organisers are hoping for even more. Endeavour Foundation Bingo - Kingaroy
The Endeavour Foundation will be holding bingo games at Kingaroy RSL from 10:00am this morning. More than $1,000 in jackpots will be on offer. More details from the RSL on (07) 4162-1755
2012 Nanango Country Music Muster
The second day - and the first full day - of the 2012 Nanango Country Music Muster will be held at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street, Nanango from 7:00am this morning through until late tonight. Today the action will get underway with a breakfast enlivened by walk-up poets between 7:00am and 10:00am. This will be followed by a Guests and Invited Artists Concert that will run from 12:00 noon until around 10:00pm. The Muster's bar will be open from 5:00pm to 10:00pm and meals will be available from the Show Society's canteen from 6:00pm (other food will be available in the grounds all day as well). This year's muster will feature a wide range of guest artists and you can get in to attend any of today's activities for $15 per person or buy a full season pass for $40 (young people aged 14 to 17 can get tickets for half price, and under-14s accompanied by an adult can get in for free). Camping fees at the Showgrounds range between $6 and $8.50 per night extra for unpowered or powered sites, but a booking for any camp site during the Muster is essential. The Nanango Country Music Muster will continue tomorrow and Sunday as well. Friday Social Golf - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy will holding their regular Friday 9-ers 9 hole social golfing sessions for men and women from 8:00am until dusk today. Everyone is most welcome (including non-members) and green fees are $11 for members or $14 for non-members for the nine holes - but this also includes a card draw for prizes in the clubhouse in the evening (there's also a Jackpot card draw on the last Friday of each month). Dark Green Urban Party - Kingaroy
With the weather finally starting to warm up at last, the Commercial Hotel at the corner of Haly and Glendon Streets in Kingaroy will be holding a Dark Green Urban Party in the beer garden tonight, emceed by the South Burnett's most popular host DJdirex. Guests are encouraged to dress to a dark, green urban theme (but dressing like Keith Urban will also be acceptable). Admission is free if you get in by 9:00pm, otherwise a $5 late fee applies. 5th Annual Spots Concert - Nanango
Nanango State High School students will be performing their 5th annual Spots Concert - "Dress To Impress" - at the Nanango State High School community hall in Elk Street, Nanango at 5:30pm tonight (concert starts at 6:00pm). The Spots concert will feature 20 different acts ranging from singers, dancers and tap through to hip hop and bands. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for concessions/students or $15 for a family (2 adults and unlimited children - under 5s are admitted free too). Light refreshments will be available and there'll also be merchandise, raffles, prizes and a photo booth. Everyone is welcome.
Neil Duddy - Kingaroy

South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 11:00am to 1:00pm today at 10 Kingaroy Street in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $35 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items). SBTA RSVP Deadline

Nanango Writers Association Meeting
The Nanango Writers Association will be meeting at the Nanango Theatre at the corner of George and Elk Streets, Nanango from 9:00am to 12:00 noon this morning. Wild Dog Baiting Program RSVP Deadline
Today is the last day for landholders who want to take part in the up-coming wild dog baiting program being jointly run by the South Burnett Regional Council and Biosecurity Australia from September 17-21 to register their interest iun taking part. South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann will be appearing at Kingaroy Shoppingworld from 10:00am to 1:00pm today so that residents can chat with him about any issues of concern they might have. Today's chat is part or a series the Mayor will be holding around the region this month and next.
