Remember the old joke about drinking and driving … you might spill a drop?

But it’s no joke in Queensland.  It is illegal to drink AND drive … even if you’re under the limit.

Police from Goomeri station are actively targeting drivers who reach for the bottle while driving, with four people charged with the offence over the past four months on the Burnett Highway.

Across Queensland, police have issued 182 traffic infringement notices since the start of 2015 to drivers consuming liquor while driving a motor vehicle, ie. nearly one a day for the first six months of the year.

It is illegal to drink and drive in any type of vehicle (truck, car, motorcycle) or on any licence type.
