U35kg JRL Zone 5 Carnival - Kingaroy
The first day of the week-long, 49th annual U35kg Zone 5 Junior Rugby League Carnival will be held at T.J. O'Neill Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy today, kicking off with a weigh-in and team nominations around 9:00am and followed by an all-day sports carnival. A canteen will be running all day as well. The carnival will continue right through until Friday, July 6, and admission is free for spectators.

Kumbia Museum
The Kumbia and District Historical Society's museum, located in the Federation Heritage Centre behind Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, will be open from 1:30pm to 3:30pm this afternoon. South Burnett Live - Kingaroy
South Burnett Live - a six hour live music concert featuring a wide range of performers including Andrew Wishart (of X Factor fame), Jase Lansky from the Gold Coast, Amber Goldsmith, Lloyd Back and Larry Cann from the South Burnett and Bobby Howson from Coffs Harbour - will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 3:00pm until late tonight as a joint fundraiser for the South Burnett PCYC Youth Program and the McGrath Foundation's Kingaroy care nurse. Tickets are $20 prepaid or $30 at the door, and they can be booked online. A bar and food will also be running, along with a $10 return bus (phone 4168-1533 for schedule details). Everyone is welcome.

Burrandowan Cutting Competition
The third and final day of the three day Burrandowan Cutting Competition will be held at Burrandowan Racecourse 62km west of Kingaroy today. Today's events will feature Snaffle Bit, Novice Non Pro, Open and Youth Events, followed by a $7500 Non Pro before wrapping up with an Open Gelding Stakes. The three-day competition is being run by the South Queensland Cutting Horse Association and spectators are very welcome.

Reserve Forces Day - Wondai
Today is Reserve Forces Day, which commemorates the two million-plus Australian men and women who've served in the ranks of the Army, Navy and Air Force Reserve since 1948, as well as the many thousands who served in the militia and other volunteer formations in the years prior to that. Wondai will be marking the event with a flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremony at the Cenotaph outside the former Wondai Shire Council chambers in Mackenzie Street at 10:00am, and then a parade which will march along Pring and Bramston Streets into Mackenzie Street, and then to Coronation Park at 11:00am. The Parade is open to anyone who served in the CMF or in the reserves of any of the three Service Arms at any time, as well as any Regulars or Nasho’s (naturally, spectators are encouraged to come along and wave the flag to show their support). After this there will be a Recognition Service in Coronation Park, before the event concludes with a Beating Retreat ceremony held on the roadway fronting the Cenotaph. Everyone will then be invited to the nearby Wondai Diggers Club for refreshments. Note: Wondai is the smallest centre in Australia to hold a Reserve Forces Day parade, but it's always well supported. Kilkivan Railway Markets
The weekly Kilkivan Railway Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. Monday Night Line Dancing - Proston
Line dancing classes will be held at the Proston Community Hall in Rodney Street, Proston tonight. A beginners class will run at 5:00pm and an advanced class at 6:30pm. Class fees are $5 per head and everyone is welcome!

Laser Skirmish - Kingaroy
The South Burnett PCYC will be holding Laser Skirmish games at the Taabinga State School Hall at the corner of Kingaroy and Rae Streets in Kingaroy today as a school holiday activity for ages 10 years and upwards. Sessions will commence at 10:00am, 11:00am, 1:00pm and 2:00pm and the cost is $10 per session per participant. There'll also be a free bus leaving the PCYC in Macalister Street, Murgon, at 1:00pm sharp for the 2:00pm session. Family History Workshop - Kingaroy

Danny's Diner - Kingaroy
Danny's Diner - a free community dinner - will be held at the Uniting Church Hall at the corner of Alford and Youngman streets in Kingaroy from 5:30pm to 7:00pm tonight. The dinner is an initiative of the Kingaroy District Ministry Association for the benefit of anyone who's hungry or otherwise doing it tough. Alcoholics Anonymous - Nanango
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership. A.A. isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution. Rainbow Run - Murgon
The South Burnett PCYC in Macalister Street, Murgon will be holding their fourth Rainbow Run on the South Burnett Rail Trail this morning as a fun school holiday activity. The run will get underway at the corner of Macalister Street and Schultz Crossing from 8:30am this morning - when registrations occur - and runners will hit the trail at 9:00am. The 8km Rainbow Run is for all ages and there'll be check points at the 1km, 2km, 3km and 4km marks and returns. The cost is $10 per participant and if you're taking part, you should wear clothes that can take being covered in coloured chalk (which will wash out later on). There'll also be a $2 sausage sizzle and cold drinks available if you're hungry or thirsty. Everyone is welcome!

Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.

Connections Craft Group - Kingaroy
The Connections Craft Group will be holding its weekly meeting at The Biscuit Tin behind St Mary's Church at 15 Albert Street, Kingaroy from 12:00 noon to around 2:00pm this afternoon. Noosaville's Outbike Australia will be running a South Burnett Rail Trail Day Trip for cyclists today. The day trip will pick up participants at Noosa, Noosaville and Gympie and will offer three options: an easy ride from Kingaroy to Murgon (45km sealed); a hard ride from Murgon to Kilkivan (45km unsealed); and an extreme 90km ride from Kingaroy to Kilkivan. Bus fares are $120 return from Noosa, and bikes can be hired for $20 if you don't have your own. The South Burnett's local football competition will be taking a school vacation break this week and next, but footy fans who are hungry for some top-tier action should head to Tom Alford Oval at the end of Oliver Bond Street in Kingaroy, where South Burnett United will be playing Willowburn White in the 16th round of this year's Toowoomba Football League competition. This will be United's first home game in a long time, and since both teams currently sit at the very top of the TFL table it should be a particularly good match. United and the Whites have only played one another twice so far this year. One match produced a 2-all draw, and the second saw United win 1-nil, so the game really could be anybody's. Play will get underway at 5:00pm and a canteen and BBQ will be operating on the grounds. Everyone is welcome and there's no admission fee.

Winter Craft Festival - Kingaroy
The second month of the two-month Winter Craft Ferstival will be officially opened at the Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery in Haly Street, Kingaroy (opposite the peanut silos) by South Burnett Mayor Keith Campbell at 11:00am this morning. This month's exhibitions will feature Refire Pottery from the Yidding Artists Group, paper tole works by Rosemarie Matthews-Frederick and scrapbooking by Two Sisters, and they'll all be on display from 10:00am to 2:00pm. This fishing competition is the 4th round of this year's series and is expected to draw a good roll-up of 26 top professional anglers. This will be followed at 3:30pm with an A-grade clash between Murgon's Mustangs and Nanango's Stags, and then a second A-grade tussle at 5:00pm between Kingaroy's Red Ants and Cherbourg's Hornets. Saturday Soccer - Kingaroy
While this year's football competition is still taking a school holiday break, fans needn't fear a footy-free weekend. In the Women's Division, the Gunnettes will play the Panthers in a catch-up game at Tom Alford Oval at the end of Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy at 1:00pm; and they'll be followed with a catch-up game in the Men's Division between Barambah and the Panthers at 3:00pm. Then at 5:00pm, the action will ramp up several notches when South Burnett United play Willowburn Red in a Toowoomba Football League match, where United will no doubt be keen to avenge their first-ever TFL loss against Willowburn White last Saturday. A bar, BBQ and canteen will be running throughout the day and spectators are very welcome but since most of the TFL round will be played after sunset under lights, you should dress warmly for maximum enjoyment.

South Burnett Rail Trail Day Trip
Noosaville's Outbike Australia will be running a South Burnett Rail Trail Day Trip for cyclists today. The day trip will pick up participants at Noosa, Noosaville and Gympie and will offer three options: an easy ride from Kingaroy to Murgon (45km sealed); a hard ride from Murgon to Kilkivan (45km unsealed); and an extreme 90km ride from Kingaroy to Kilkivan. Bus fares are $120 return from Noosa, and bikes can be hired for $20 if you don't have your own. South Burnett locals are also welcome to take part, and there's $40 rider and bike transfers from Kilkivan to Kingaroy available if you need help getting back home. More details? The South Burnett's annual Mini Mods rugby league carnival will be held at the Wondai Sportsgrounds on the Bunya Highway in Wondai today. This carnival always attracts hundreds of junior players from all over the Wide-Bay Burnett, and matches will start at 8:20am and continue through until the afternoon, with 100 separate games being played across multiple fields. The U7s, U8s and U10s are all 15-minute games and will wrap up around 2:00pm, while the U12s are 19-minute games and will wrap up with the final scheduled to start at 5:00pm. Noosaville's Outbike Australia will be running a South Burnett Rail Trail Day Trip for cyclists today. The day trip will pick up participants at Noosa, Noosaville and Gympie and will offer three options: an easy ride from Kingaroy to Murgon (45km sealed); a hard ride from Murgon to Kilkivan (45km unsealed); and an extreme 90km ride from Kingaroy to Kilkivan. Bus fares are $120 return from Noosa, and bikes can be hired for $20 if you don't have your own. The lucky 13th round of this year's local football competition will be played in Nanango and Kingaroy today. League fans should head to the Wondai Sportsgrounds on the Bunya Highway north of the CBD today, where this year's Mini Mods Carnival will conclude this morning with U14s and U16s games that will draw to a close around noon. After this, the local competition will stage an A-grade double header, kicking off with the Wondai Wolves playing Nanango's Stags at 1:00pm. They'll be followed at 2:30pm with a second A-grade game between Murgon's Mustangs and Kingaroy's Red Ants, and both matches should be well worth watching. A bar and canteen will be operating at the grounds and spectators are very welcome! Note: A planned U18s game between the South Burnett Eagles and Oakey that was to have been run today has been cancelled after Oakey forfeited. This has resulted in both A-grade games being moved forward.

Blood Moon
The moon will undergo a five-hour partial - and then total - eclipse early this morning. Night owls or early risers will be able to view it between 3:14am (when the eclipse cycle begins) and 7:13am (when it ends). At the peak of the eclipse - at 5:30am - the moon will appear to be red because it will be reflecting sunrises and sunsets on the Earth, producing a rarely-seen effect known as a Blood Moon. An earlier Blood Moon in late January this year was obscured by a bank of clouds across the South Burnett, so if you missed it this morning's eclipse will provide a second chance to see what one looks like.

Danny's Diner - Kingaroy
Danny's Diner - a free community dinner - will be held at the Uniting Church Hall at the corner of Alford and Youngman streets in Kingaroy from 5:30pm to 7:00pm tonight. The dinner is an initiative of the Kingaroy District Ministry Association for the benefit of anyone who's hungry or otherwise doing it tough. Alcoholics Anonymous - Nanango
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership. A.A. isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution. AA meets in Nanango every Tuesday from 6:30pm at the Catholic Church Hall in Alfred Street (next to St Patrick's school). For more information, phone 0427-289-990.

Tuesday Night AFL - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Saints AFL Club will be holding their regular Tuesday night training session at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy (just next to Beangrowers) at 5:30pm. The Saints field male, female and junior teams and train every Tuesday and Friday night. New players are always welcome.
