BVRT Bike Ride - Yarraman/Blackbutt To Moore
A Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Cycle Ride from Yarraman or Blackbutt (depending on where you want to start) down to Moore will be held on the Rail Trail from 8:00am to 4:00pm today. Cyclists who want to take part should drive to Moore, where the organisers will pick up riders and their cycles and deposit them at Blackbutt (or Yarraman) for a downhill ride through the Blackbutt Range and back to their car. The cost of the transport service is $25 to $27.12 and riders should also bring a blanket to protect their bike in transit - but everything else is the rider's responsibility (ie food, water, taking part in the ride, your personal itinerary etc). Places in the ride can be booked on EventBrite.

Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at the old railway station building at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for its regular Saturday morning meeting today, kicking off with a cuppa at 9:00am. Reserve Forces Day Preparations
Reserve Forces Day will be commemorated in Wondai tomorrow, and today a couple of events have been organised to welcome people travelling to the South Burnett for this annual event. At 1:00pm, the Wondai Country Club at the Wondai Sportsgrounds on the Bunya Highway north of the CBD will be holding a social bowls match between any ex-servicemen and women who may wish to compete for a perpetual trophy, and everyone is welcome to take part. And at 5:30pm, there'll be a Meet & Greet at the Hotel Cecil in Mackenzie Street, Wondai.

Raising Hell In Maidenwell
The main public day of the three-day Raising Hell In Maidenwell Car Show 'N' Shine camp out weekend will be held at the Maidenwell Sportsgrounds (right next to the Maidenwell Hotel) all day today. This popular event - which is run by the South Burnett Gas Guzzlers to support local charities - features live music; a big Show'n'Shine focussing on hot rods, street machines and pre-1975 customs; and vintage and veteran caravans. Today's activities will kick off at 8:00am for Show & Shine exhibitors, and at 9:00am for the public. There'll be food stalls, raffles, engine blow-ups, market stalls and a swap meet, along with a free jumping castle, face painting and a colouring competition for the kiddies. In the evening there'll also be a great pig-on-a-spit dinner at the Maidenwell Hotel, an auction, and live entertainment until the wee hours. Everyone is welcome! Dance - Inverlaw Hall
A dance will be held at Inverlaw Hall on the Burrandowan Road (roughly 20km from Kingaroy) from 8:00pm until late this evening. Music will be supplied by Toptunes and there'll be the usual great supper and novelties, along with a Lucky Door draw. Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed run at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. Saturday Golf - Kingaroy

Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding their Saturday meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.

At The Wineries
Three of the South Burnett's wineries will be open for lunch today. At Moffatdale, Moffatdale Ridge will have their cellar door verandah cafe open for light meals and snacks from 10:00am to 4:00pm. And in Kingaroy, Cranes Winery and Kingsley Grove will be open the same hours, serving up wines and platters (at Cranes) and wines, cheese platters and wood-fired pizzas (at Kingsley Grove). Smooth & Groove - Kingaroy
Popular entertainers Smooth & Groove will be performing at the Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy from 7:00pm until late tonight. Admission is free. More details from the RSL on (07) 4162-1755

Nanango Country Markets
The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and routinely attract 300 to 400 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Pig On A Spit Night - Maidenwell
Maidenwell's historic Maidenwell Hotel will be holding a special Pig On A Spit night in honour of Raising Hell In Maidenwell from 6:00pm until late tonight (dinner is served from 6:00pm to 8:00pm). There'll be lots of cold beer, along with more pork than you can poke a fork at, all served up with with roast potatoes, pumpkin, corn, peas, carrots, applesauce and gravy! There'll also be roast beef and spit roasted chicken on the menu tonight for those who prefer a non-pork option, plus a vegetarian option (ie vegies only). In addition, there'll be a Meat Raffle run as a fundraiser for Tanduringie State School, with three quality meat trays from The Little Butcher in Kingaroy up for grabs. Maidenwell Markets
If you're heading up to the Bunya Mountains today, go via Maidenwell and you can browse the Maidenwell Markets at the Maidenwell Sportsgrounds (just next to the Rural Fire Brigade HQ in the heart of town) between 8:00am and 12:00 noon this morning. These markets offer a range of arts and crafts, local produce, plants, home baking, bric-a-brac, sauces, jams, chutneys, coffee, food and lots more (there's even a jumping castle for children). Kilkivan Railway Markets
The weekly Kilkivan Railway Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. Reserve Forces Day - Wondai
Today is Reserve Forces Day, which commemorates the two million-plus Australian men and women who've served in the ranks of the Army, Navy and Air Force Reserve since 1948, as well as the many thousands who served in the militia and other volunteer formations in the years prior to that. Wondai will be marking the event with a flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremony at the Cenotaph outside the former Wondai Shire Council chambers in Mackenzie Street at 10:00am, and then a parade which will march along Pring and Bramston Streets into Mackenzie Street, and then to Coronation Park at 11:00am. The Parade is open to anyone who served in the CMF or in the reserves of any of the three Service Arms at any time, as well as any Regulars or Nasho’s (naturally, spectators are encouraged to come along and wave the flag to show their support). After this there will be a Recognition Service in Coronation Park, before the event concludes with a Beating Retreat ceremony held on the roadway fronting the Cenotaph. Everyone will then be invited to the nearby Wondai Diggers Club for refreshments. Note: Wondai is the smallest centre in Australia to hold a Reserve Forces Day parade, but it's always well supported. Kumbia Museum
The Kumbia and District Historical Society's museum, located in the Federation Heritage Centre behind Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, will be open from 1:30pm to 3:30pm this afternoon. Sunday Golf - Nanango
The Nanango Golf Club on the D'Aguilar Highway north of the CBD will be holding their Bendigo Bank Monthly Mug and Medal competition today. The competition, which is open to members only, is for men and women and is playted in divisions. Early players can tee off between 6:00am and 8:00am, and all other players tee off at 10:00am. The winners of reach division will receive a shirt and if they're still around when the announcement is made, a mug they can fill up at the bar as well. More details? Timbertowns Woodworkers - Blackbutt

This popular event - which is run by the South Burnett Gas Guzzlers to support local charities - features live music; a big Show'n'Shine focussing on hot rods, street machines and pre-1975 customs; and vintage and veteran caravans. Today's activities will largely focus on breaking up camp - the main public day was yesterday - but there'll be some entertainment at the hotel and in the grounds, as well as lots of great cars to inspect, before things wrap up around lunchtime. Monday Evening Bingo - Blackbutt

Creative Connections at 8 George Street, Nanango will be running their regular Monday mosaics class from 9:30am to noon today. Cost is $10 per person - which includes morning tea and materials - and participants should BYO gloves and apron. This will be followed by a beading class from 12:30pm to 2:30pm. The Kingaroy RSPCA at Warren Truss Drive, Kingaroy Airport will be holding an induction for volunteers at 11:00am this morning. The RSPCA needs volunteers to fill roles as dog walkers, animal attendants, dog washers, grounds maintenance helps, administration assistants, laundry workers, and more. Danny's Diner - Kingaroy
Danny's Diner - a free community dinner - will be held at the Uniting Church Hall at the corner of Alford and Youngman streets in Kingaroy from 5:30pm to 7:00pm tonight. The dinner is an initiative of the Kingaroy District Ministry Association for the benefit of anyone who's hungry or otherwise doing it tough. NAIDOC Community Open Day - Cherbourg
Cherbourg will be celebrating NAIDOC Week with a NAIDOC Community Open Day at the Ration Shed Museum in Barambah Avenue, Cherbourg from 10:00am onwards today. There'll be a free BBQ, live music, cultural dancers, weaving, art activities, film screenings, fun activities for children and much more. The Blackbutt Camera Club will be holding a meeting at the Uniting Church Hall in Coulson Street, Blackbutt from 4:00pm to 8:00pm this evening. The club meets on the first and third Wednesdays of every month except December and January. The first Wednesday is devoted to practical photography (bring your own camera and equipment) and the third Wednesday to a review of those images and talks and tips on software (bring your laptop), followed by a committee meeting at 7:00pm. CANCELLED: Full Throttle Theatre and the Townsville Astronomy Group will be performing their new touring show "Astronomical" at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street, Nanango at 6:30pm this evening. Astronomical blends actors with large, computer-controlled telescopes for an exciting, fun look into astronomy and the production is touring 65 towns around Queensland this winter. Freedom Of Entry To Kingaroy
The South Burnett Regional Council will grant Freedom Of Entry to Kingaroy to army, navy and air force personnel from Cabarlah's Defence Force School Of Signals - Electronic Warfare Wing in a ceremony held in Kingaroy's CBD from 9:00am this morning. 100 troops, accompanied by the Australian Army Band Brisbane, will march along Youngman, Alford, Haly and Glendon Streets before being inspected by Mayor Keith Campbell at the Glendon Street forecourt, and then being granted Freedom Of Entry to Kingaroy at around 10:15am. The ceremony renews a connection between the region and Cabarlah that was lost in the 2008 Council amalgamations (Cabarlah troops formerly had Freedom Of Entry to Nanango), and everyone is welcome to come and witness this spectacular military ceremony.

The final 2017 State Of Origin match between the Queensland Maroons and the NSW Blues will be held at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium at 8:15pm tonight. The Maroons are being coached by former Queensland rugby league legend Kevin Walters, backing up for a second year after his maiden series win in 2016. The South Burnett's annual Mini Mods rugby league carnival will be held over three ovals at the Wondai Sportsgrounds on the Bunya Highway in Wondai today. Putting The Screws On Crime - Kingaroy
Kingaroy Police are inviting local residents to bring along their vehicles to the area beside Kingaroy Repco in Youngman Street between 9:00am and noon this morning to have one-way screws fitted to their number plates. The screws make it very difficult for thieves to steal the plates, and are a local crime prevention initiative. In Nanango, home team Panthers will play Barambah at the Burnett Street Soccer Fields, with 1st Division hitting the park at 12:30pm, Women's Division at 2:00pm and 2nd Division at 3:15pm. And in Kingaroy, Gunners will play Wests at Tom Alford Oval in Oliver Bond Street, with 2nd Division kicking off the day at 2:00pm and 1st Division playing under lights at 5:00pm (the Women's Division game has been deferred). Saturday Soccer - Wondai and Kingaroy
The South Burnett's 2017 soccer season will hold its 12th round in Wondai and Kingaroy today. In Wondai, home team Barambah will play Gunners at the Wondai Soccer Fields off the Bunya Highway just north of Wondai Sportsgrounds, with 1st Division hitting the park at 12:30pm, Women's Division at 2:00pm and 2nd Division at 3:15pm. And in Kingaroy, home team Wests will play Nanango at Tom Alford Oval in Oliver Bond Street, with 2nd Division kicking off at 2:00pm, Women's Division at 3:30pm and 1st Division under lights at 5:00pm. Admission to view the matches is free, and a canteen will be running at both venues. Spectators are very welcome!

Christmas In July Buffet - Wondai
A great Christmas In July Buffet will be held at Dimities Cottage in Haly Street, Wondai (opposite the Wondai Art Gallery) at 6:30pm this evening. Chef Graham and his helpers will be serving up an all-you-can-eat smorgasbord of Christmas favourites in a forest of beautifully decorated trees and a wonderful collection of Santas. Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Race Day
The Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Speedway Club will be holding a Race Day on the main oval of Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 1:30pm this afternoon. Pig On A Spit Night - Maidenwell
Maidenwell's historic Maidenwell Hotel will be holding another of their popular monthly Pig On A Spit evenings from 6:00pm until late tonight (dinner is served from 6:00pm to 8:00pm). The Tablelands Hall Committee will be holding their popular 5th Sunday Market Day at Tablelands Hall from 6:30am to around 2:00pm today. Tonight's meet & greet will be addressed by a variety of speakers including Mrs Frecklington, who'll provide an update on State politics; and South Burnett Mayor Keith Campbell, who'll provide an update on Council activities.
