A small ceremony was held at BlueCare’s Canowindra Aged Care Facility in Kingaroy on Thursday to mark the service of one of its residents.
Donald Alistair Mackintosh was presented with the Australian Defence Medal and the Anniversary of National Services 1951-1972 Medal by Kingaroy-Memerambi Sub-Branch president Barry Offer.
Sub-Branch member Barry Krosch, who organised the event, said Don served in the Australian Naval Reserve from 1967 until 1993, rising to the rank of probationary Sub-Lieutenant.
He was also a keen pilot and held a Captain’s Licence and lectured in navigation.
