Jockey Hannah Phillips has launched a GoFundMe campaign for Nanango Race Club president Wayne Hancock who recently suffered a devastating fire on his property at Booie.
Wayne and his wife Francine are both volunteers with the race club.
On June 12, fire crews were called early in the morning after reports a shed was on fire.
When they arrived they found a large hayshed well-engulfed in flames.
Hannah said the the blaze destroyed the couple’s hay harvest as well as farming machinery and implements.
“Insurance will only cover some of the damage,” Hannah wrote on GoFundMe.
“With many experts predicting a drought starting later this year, a group of race club members are getting together to help replace the hay and hopefully some of the implements to get Wayne and Francine back to drought-readiness.
“We welcome any donations, big or small, to help two people who have been instrumental in the recent revival and growth of the Nanango Race Club.”
