Peries IGA Group hosted an information evening this week to update Wondai residents about their new store.

The new shop is being built in Haly Street, Wondai, on the site of the former Boisens building.

It is scheduled to have a “soft” opening on July 15 followed by a grand opening at 10:30am on Saturday, July 18.

Local residents were invited to come along to the Wondai Memorial Hall on Tuesday night to hear more about the project.

Peries IGA Group regional manager Sharon Griffin and marketing manager Col Hickey explained the layout of the new supermarket, and answered questions.

They said the expansion would allow Peries IGA to offer a larger range of items, with more space for groceries as well as bigger dairy, bakery and freezer areas.

The developers are currently working with the South Burnett Regional Council to repair and upgrade the footpath outside the new store.

Council has also approached Transport and Main Roads about improving access.
