June 13, 2026
The annual two-month Queensland Winter Craft Festival was officially launched by South Burnett Mayor Kathy Duff on a chilly Friday evening recently at the Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery.
The festival has been hosted every June and July at the gallery since 2016.
The 2026 event, dubbed “A Crafty Mix in ’26”, officially opened on June 5 and will run through until the end of July.
Local craftspeople take over the gallery spaces as well as hosting a series of hands-on workshops in the 1913 Council Chambers building.
(Details about these workshops – which have limited spots – are available from the Kingaroy gallery).
The June exhibition features pieces created by the Tangled Threads group in the main gallery, including large fibre art wall hangings.
Works by the “The 2 Susies” ie. Sue Flintham and Susie Woltmann are in Gallery 2 under the title “Fire & Threads”.
The front gallery features a range of pieces, including Fabergé-style eggs by decorator Trevor Mitchell.
These exhibition will be replaced in July with “The Battle Of The Quilts” in the main gallery, works by Tania Rae Corbet in Gallery 2 and Lyn Kenny in Gallery 3.
