A site has been chosen for Kingaroy’s much-needed new fire station … in the Barron Park Drive industrial estate, located parallel to the Bunya Highway.
Minister for Fire, Disaster Recovery and Volunteers Ann Leahy made the announcement during the recent Country Cabinet visit to the South Burnett.
A total of $2.5 million was allocated in the 2025-26 State Budget to buy land for the project.
Construction was an election promise made by local MP Deb Frecklington ahead of the 2024 State poll.
The estimated cost at that time was $7.5 million.
In 2023, then-Minister Mark Ryan said a new Kingaroy Fire Station was in the Labor Government’s “forward capital planning pipeline” but no date had been set for the project to go ahead.
He said the “exact timings for the delivery of specific facilities” were determined by the QFES (now the QFD).
