No, Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien is NOT considering joining One Nation!
A video posted online on Sunday morning by Mackay councillor Martin Bella suggested Mr O’Brien would leave the LNP before the end of his term.
Mr Bella, who describes himself as a “digital creator”, was founder of the Green Shirt Movement and now promotes “The Sensible Centre”.
He has also told the media that he won’t be restanding for Council at the end of his term.
After briefly analysing Mr O’Brien’s response to last week’s Federal Budget, Mr Bella suggested Mr O’Brien would join One Nation to protect his political career.
Mr O’Brien was elected to Federal Parliament in 2016, filling the shoes of Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss after his retirement from politics.
He previously held senior roles in the LNP party structure prior to standing for office.
Mr O’Brien’s official response to southburnett.com.au on Monday: “Who is Martin Bella? and no I’m not joining One Nation.”
(If anyone has forgotten, Mr Bella had a long rugby league career, playing for teams including North Sydney, Manly and the Bulldogs. He also represented Queensland and Australia in the 1980s and 1990s).
